Custom book cover mock-ups, created in Photoshop and InDesign, for both digital releases and print editions.
Photographic mockups, depict a guerrilla advertising strategy for the Texas Book Festival, drawing on the symbolic plot device of “Optic White” paint from Ralph Ellison’s Invisible Man. Central to the concept is the satirical slogan, “If It’s Optic White, It’s the Right White,” which exposes and critiques the “white is right” mentality of the era, directly linking the product’s marketing language to the social prejudices it reflects.
The Invisible Man Hunt Mechanics for Attendees
Objective: Find Ralph Ellison’s Invisible Man book at the festival and locate the author's signing tent by following the invisible man's visible, optic white footprints.
Instructions: Find the white painted man hole, follow the white footprints. Not every path is true. The book, and its words, await those who see what has been white washed.
Reward System: First 10 arrivals at each bookshelf receive bookmarks with Ellison's Invisible Man quotes, and the first 10 who complete the trail to the author's tent receive a complementary book, signed by Ralph Ellison.
